(ENG) This is a technical demonstration of my Beat 'Em Up game engine for GameBoy Color created in GBStudio.

It uses TMNT The Arcade Game as placeholder graphics.

This version seeks to exemplify the use of the engine in a game of this style. Its mechanics are not completely polished, but they make clear the potential of the engine and can be improved by being implemented in a complete project.

I plan to use this engine in my next game. If possible, I could create a template for other people to create their own Beat 'Em Ups in GBStudio, although it will take time to get to that point.

The support provided always helps me to continue with these projects.

(ES) Esta es una demostración técnica de mi motor para juegos tipo Beat 'Em Up para GameBoy Color creado en GBStudio.

Utiliza TMNT The Arcade Game como gráficos placeholder.

Esta versión busca ejemplificar el uso del motor en un juego de este estilo. Sus mecánicas no están completamente pulidas, pero dejan claro el potencial del motor y pueden ser mejoradas al ser implementadas en un proyecto completo.

Tengo pensado usar este motor en mi próximo juego. De ser posible, podría crear una plantilla para que otras personas puedan crear sus propios Beat 'Em Ups en GBStudio, aunque me llevará tiempo llegar a ese punto.

You forgot the lockdown error message for the DMG because, I played Rugrats totally angelica while using a DMG Classic Game Boy and I can see the message that says this game can only be played on game boy color so, I used the gameboy color and It works!


Would you be sure to watch the video on youtube?

I bet you can add a lockdown screen for dmg if you set it on Color Only with GB Studio Settings.

I'd love to know what's going on under the hood here, this is a fine start 👍

Just by way of a bug report, this build (v0.10) did break for me at one point - after fighting another two foot soldiers, during which the camera is static, instead of the camera unlocking and scrolling again, in this one instance the camera unlocked to focus back on the player, then locked again - I was able to resume normal play by moving offscreen over to the right until I hit the next trigger, after which everything returned to normal.

Thanks for the report! I will make some adjustments to mitigate or even eliminate the bug.

THAT was rad! Lookin' forward to seein' the game that comes from this. Makin' a template version would also be real neat.
